The retro futuristic amida digitrend is a horological UFO that arrives directly from the 1970s. This unique driver clock stands up with its digital display, which is read horizontally by an optical inverting prism. The model was brought back with a fairly loyal new edition in 2024, with the original look and the mechanical movement for the mechanical diving hour based on a modern SoProd Newton P092 automatic movement. After this successful return, the model is now developing with the cool limited edition “Open Sapphire”, with which you can discover its engine and capture the technical trick behind its fascinating display concept.
In short, the Amida Digitrend Open Sapphire retains the same liquid shapes, proportions and dimensions (39.6 mm x 39 mm x 16 mm), as the opening edition 2024 is published. According to AMIDA, the production of this complex shaped sapphire requires no less than 24 hours to be ground, edited and polished.
The Amida Digitrend movement is based on an automatic basic caliber from SoProd Newton P092, which is coupled with a proprietary diving hour module. The flat layed lessons and tiny slices are now visible through the sapphire hood of the watch, while the time can still be read horizontally by the side sapphire prism that reflects it. The movement has now been dedicated to additional attention after it has been exhibited with particularly generation strips, anchlage and Plylage.
Another sapphire crystal on the back of the watch (unlike the original model) enables you to discover the other side of the movement with its open rotor and its equilibrium, which is held in place under a transverse bridge. It runs with a frequency of 4 Hz and has a 44-hour electricity reserve. The Amida Digitrend Open Sapphire is presented either on an Alcantara strap with orange feed and a pink buckle or an integrated steel-wide-width-integrated bracelet with a folding clasp.
The unconventional amida digitrend has always presented with its bold wrist – now completely exhibited with its movement, there is even more attention. This open Sapphire version is published in a limited edition of only 150. The watch is now available for ordering and it costs to evaluate CHF 4,500 (excl. Taxes) or EUR 5.760 (including taxes). The watch will also be available via selected ambassadors – Chronopassion in Paris, Prkjt8 in Bahrain, Chronométrie Clarence in Geneva, 10 ten laboratories in Riad, Swiss Prestige in Taiwan and the limited edition in Leicester (UK).
