The Petrolhead Corner Road Legal, Race Ready and Le Mans Hypercar Client Programs

After Ferrari's historical third victory in Le Mans last week there was much more to speak than pure racing tracks. While the occurring action of the 2025 edition of the legendary French endurance race was exciting from the start to finish, there was off-track action that attracted our attention caused by fuel! Of course there was the unique Road-Legal-Porsche 963 RSP in a very suitable Martini Silver, but we also had McLaren's announcement to start in Le Mans by 2027 and offer a customer program. So let's take a look at the 24 hours of Le Mans, let's take a look at all of these customer -oriented racing programs!

Porsche 963 RSP

Let it leave it to Porsche, the show outside of Le Mans when you celebrate something historical with Le Mans at Le Mans. The Porsche 963 RSP is a unique, state law Porsche 963 Le Mans Hypercar, which was produced for Roger Searle Penske (the RSP in the name), the legendary American racing driver, team owner and businessman. Penske has long been intertwined with the German manufacturer and has celebrated many successes with Porsche. As a driver, for example, he took 718 RS 61 in a Porsche in a Porsche 718 RS 61 in 1961. He won over 500 races and more than 40 titles as the founder and owner of Penske Racing (now Team Penske). This includes 20 wins in the Indy 500, no less than 17 Indy Car championships and several victories in the Daytona 24 hours.

The history of Penske also includes the legendary Porsche 917, the two-time Le Mans award racing car from the 1970s. Although Penske is not associated with these complete victories, he fought the flawless Porsche 917-30 (The Turbo tank) in the CAN-AM racing series. The 917-30 had a flat 12-turbo engine in a magnesium chassis and fiber optic body. The car produced up to 1,500 hp in qualification, which is as crazy as it sounds! Piloted by Mark Donahue, it won in the 1973 season to two races and effectively killed the series overall. However, another 917 is even more important for the importance of this new 963 RSP, and this is commissioned by Count Rossi di Montelera (the Martini & Rossi Drink Company) in 1975. CHASSIS No. 030 raced once and was converted for street use and in silver and with an interior dressed in a leather dress.

Porsche now closed the circle in several ways, since it not only celebrates its partnership and successes with Roger Penske and his team, but also to legally bring the 917 on the street for the 50th anniversary. The Porsche 963 RSP is in the same martini silver and with a similar leather tone for the interior (note the funny 3D printed cup holder!). Of course, some security changes were made, but essentially it is the car that you see in Le Mans and other circuits around the world!

The aero is optimized here and there and gets new headlights with indicators and everything as well as a horn! A decent detail are the fender ventilation openings inspired by the front arches of the 917. The driving height is raised a little, the suspension has been smoothed for a touch and the mapping of the engine to better comply with public roads, but otherwise it is pretty much a full racing car for the street! This means that the 4.6-liter twin turbo V8 still does 680 hp and is able to be very illegal speeds!

Aston Martin Valkyrie LM Pro

It was a great news when Aston Martin announced that it would bring his extreme Valkyrie hypercar to Le Mans, followed by the news that the manufacturer also built ten customer cars based on the walk-in walky prepared by Race. It was developed as the most ridiculous, ridiculous street car, which was presented by Aston Martin, which had a lot of influence from the Advanced Racing series as Formula 1. The project included Red Bull Racing Advanced Technologies, with Adrian Newey as one of the project managers. The concept was first shown in 2016, and an ongoing development prototype debuted in 2017 before production began in 2024.

The car is driven by a 6.5 liter V12 of 6.5 liters with V12 developed by Cosworth and produces 1,000 hp at 10,500 rpm with a red line from 11,100 rpm. A hybrid system increased the power to 1,160 hp, which means that the ratio of 1: 1 only exceeds 1,030 kg. This is simply unknown in a production car, and as such the performance is only crazy; Zero to 100 km / h in 2.6 seconds and a top speed of more than 350 km / h. In addition, some seriously advanced aerodynamics, and it should not be a surprise that Valkyrie is up to date in a racetrack. A Valkyrie AMR Pro Pro, aligned on the track, was also published, together with a Valkyrie spyder with a production of a total of 275 cars. In 2023, Aston Martin stated that Valkyrie AMR-LMH returned to Le Mans, and made his debut as the only hypercar entry in 2025 to find its origins in a street car.

While Aston Martin's return might not have been as wonderful as many had hoped, the flowing hills around Le Mans still tremble with the howling of this mighty V12 in the background of Valkyrie Amr-LMH! You can listen to AMR-LMH during the Le Mans test day under Valkyrie. Surprisingly, in contrast to pretty much all competitors, the car has no hybrid drive train. Instead, it is based exclusively on its 6.5 liter V12, although it was obviously modified in such a way that it fulfills the regulations. It qualified in Le Mans on the 15th and 20th place, with both cars in the 12th and 14th place to the finish line.

The week before Le Mans, fairly simultaneously with Porsche's news about the 963 RSP, Aston Martin announced a Valkyrie Amr-LMH customer program. That means we now have a street car, the racing car was shot and the customer shot. Ten very happy people have the opportunity to buy an unrestricted version of Valkyrie Amrmh to celebrate the return of the brand to the famous French endurance race, a car that is almost identical to that at Le Mans, but is identical without ballast weight and performance restrictions. Every owner will also experience a fully impressive racing development program. What experience does that have to be, right?

Ferrari 499P modified

Aston Martin is not the only one who offers a customer car based on his Le Mans racing machine. Ferrari did something similar in 2023, based on his 499p. Then, a one -time and now three -time winner from Le Mans, the 499p Ferraris participant is on the highest endurance racing. It was a return to the first -class race in Le Mans for Ferrari, but also the crowbar that had to break the drying magic after the last overall victory of the Scuderia in 1964 (Ford ended the Italian's reign a year later).

The Modificata program offers Ferrari customers the opportunity to find out how it is to get a Le Mans -Hypercar on the right track. Similar to the XX and F1 customer programs, the cars are sent to different circuits around the world so that their owners can enjoy. And similar to the Valkyrie AMR-LMH customer cars, Ferrari does not have to explain things such as restrictions on power, fuel consumption or ballast weight. And if you can read between the lines here, it means that it is actually faster than the actual 499P, which has conquered Le Mans three times in a row! On paper, what these performance levels extract from such a progressive car is not what many can do!

The 499p modifikata is supplied with the same 3.0-liter twin turbo V6, which is derived from the Ferrari 296 GT3. The changes include a more powerful electric motor for front axis, which is always involved, in contrast to certain speeds when running at Le Mans. The total output of the combined output is 858 hp if the “Push to Pass” mode includes. Ferrari did not indicate how many were built, but since it is strictly limited itself to its closest customers and they costs 5 million euros per pop, it is probably single -digit or maybe at best 10.

McLaren 2027 LMH programs

McLaren's new Hypercar is recently in line and least detailed. This was announced for 2027 when the British manufacturers entered the top class for the first time in Le Mans after their spectacular and unexpected victory in 1995 with the legendary F1 GTR. It was McLaren's first attempt by Le Mans, and it only did Ferrari if they are victorious in their debut. Based on the legendary F1 developed by Gordon Murray, it confronted strong competition with production-based GT1 cars such as itself and much faster prototype WSC cars. Nevertheless, it triumphed overnight due to its reliability and partly due to the heavy rain.

Now, 30 years after this first victory, McLaren announced that he had another crack from 2027. In order to act Words, a client program also announced that is based on the LM Hypercar, which is being developed for the competition. The goal is to win the Triple Crown in the race in a single season, which means that McLaren wants to win the Monaco Grand Prix (originally the F1 championship as a whole), which Indy 500 and Le Mans want to win 24 hours in the same year! The only person who has achieved this is Graham Hill, if not in a single year. McLaren has completed it as a manufacturer, but also not in a season.

Not much about the car itself is now known or confirmed, apart from the fact that the cars (both LMDH and the customer car) use a twin turbo V6 hybrid drive train built by races. McLaren will work with Dallara, the well-known and highly conductive constructor from Italy, to develop the chassis with which it also works in its IndyCar program. The project: Endurance ownership experience includes two years of the McLaren customer track program. Sounds exciting and I'm really looking forward to more Hypercars for Le Mans!
