The contemporary independent watchmaking lives from unconventional ideas, but only a few creators dare to form them with such sculptural poetry and technical finesse as David Candaux. His latest creation, the DC7 Blue Hawk, embodies his philosophy of a masterful fusion of mechanical virtuosity, architectural depth and visual intrigue.
Building on the vision, which was first introduced with the DC7 genesis, the third model in Candaux 'collection according to the first DC1 (2017) and the DC6 (2019) of the Blue Hawk is further ahead of the language of asymmetry, lighting play and the multi-stage architecture. While the Genesis distilled the trademark of the brand in a somewhat more reserved form, followed by the DC7 Titanium Green, the Blue Hawk examines lower contrasts and surfaces and, however, maintains the features that define the DC7 series.
The DC7 Blue Hawk is available in a 44 -mm housing made of Titan of the 5th grade from grade 5. It measures 14 mm in the thickness and is waterproof at 50 meters. The fully hand -polished finish, an extraordinary challenge, which the stubborn hardness of Titan exerts in view of the stubborn hardness of Titan, produces subtle curves and reflections. The case shows a reference -shaped silhouette that is vertically asymmetrically from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m., but remains balanced and reaches organic ergonomics that is comfortable on the wrist, at least in view of its size.
Circulated side floors improve this natural fit, while at 6 a.m. the patented Magic Crown, a retractable 31-component, retractable system that remains flush with inactive housings, and if they are pressed on wraps and setting. The crown frame two with “David Candaux” and “handmade” engraved badges with black, painted plaques, a detail that strengthens the brand's manual identity.
The BLUE HAWK dial plays with light and depth and is a true work of layered horological architecture. In a central part carried out in anodized titanium, its central part houses the skeletonized, hand-polished hour and tiny hands, along their edges and with lively blue Super Luminova triangles, which reflect the deep, anodized shade of the dial. Around this central element are a engraved minute and a built -in relay hour, which is accentuated by a bold triangular index at 6 a.m. and is anchored within the lower dial structure. The design is in contrast to the DC7 genesis with large Arabic digits and the DC7 green with its characteristic color scheme. Here the stick indices and the right blue palette create a slimmer, graphic look.
At 12 noon is the aperture for the inclined tourbillon. A torn flange, which is engraved with the second track, frames the tourbillon, while the small second display is seamlessly integrated into the tourbillon cage itself: a white painted Titanium hand is pursuing a graduate ring. The dial frame drives another dimensionality and almost seems to float, which is kept by visible screws in place, a selection that reinforces the feeling of depth and lightness.
The Blue Hawk is driven by the H70 caliber, the same hand-wound movement that the DC7 series supplies, manufactured in Titan and inclined at 3 ° compared to the case. The caliber measures 35 mm and 6.20 mm thick and consists of 189 components, including the ingenious Magic Crown system. The highlight is the 30 °-size Flying Tourbillon, whose single-axle cage made of titanium and blue anodent titanium ends a full rotation every 60 seconds. Apart from its dramatic presence, this tendency is used for a practical purpose and improves chronometric stability by better measured in several positions, as the watchmaker explains.
With two quickly rotating coaxial barrels, the caliber delivers a robust 72-hour electricity reserve and beats 21,600 vibrations/hour. Completion remains loyal to Haute Horlogerie's best traditions with hand-polished sloping, straight-grained Titanium bridges, a black-polished tourbillon bridge and the inner angles that testify to the hours of manual work. Fine details underline such as Ruby jewels in solid gold chats and an engraved yellow gold medallion, which carries Candaux's bear head emblem, the refinement of the movement.
The DC7 Blue Hawk is worn on a smooth, handmade rubber strap, which is available with a Velcro fastener, a folding cap or a pen -free snap and is engraved with the David Candaux logo. In combination with the curved tabs and the polished Titan housing, the 44 -mm clock surprisingly balanced and comfortable despite its visual complexity.
