Although the young microbrand Eska reappeared last year, it has a much longer track record to secure its name. Eska was founded in Granges in Switzerland in 1918 and made a name for itself with its robust tool clocks, which proved to be popular in North and South American, Australian and Asian markets. Like many during the Quartz crisis, the brand did not survive in 1987 and stopped in 1987. The brand was recently revived by the dead. After the first black model, the White Shark Edition and a Kühnen Red Viper version, there is now a new limited edition, the amphibian 250 Green Turtle.
A little at the beginning of this year Eska has proven that it was not a brand that devoted itself exclusively for diving clocks and stopped a racing chronograph to expand its collection. No reason to lose their origin, the brand is now returning to its popular diving watch series with a new and fascinating edition of the Eska Amphibian 250.
In this sense, the basics are identical. The amphibian 250, a retro-style diver, which is inspired by a clock with the name The Amphibian 600, is based on a classic recipe: vintage design, modern specifications, fairly compact dimensions and reasonable price … and also great personality. The stainless steel housing of the Eska Amphibian 250 Green Turtle measures a diameter of 40 mm and a height of 13.5 mm (the lug-to-lug is 46 mm). The housing is brushed at the top, polished on the sides and delivered with a firm fallback. It is crowned by a retro-shaped sapphire crystal, and the water resistance is rated with a convenient 250 m with a screwed crown.
In addition to its classic skin-diver look, most of the character of the Eska Amphibian 250 comes from its oversized display elements, starting with the bezel. Unidirectional, the bezel is a steel frame element with coin edges and houses a wide black sapphire insert. The lower surface is printed with an oversized light scale that has a reverse 60-minute layout “Countdown”. In accordance with the Green Turtle nickname, the clock is worn on a green tropical nudist rubber.
The main frequency, as you suspected, is the dial. The new amphibian 250 Green Turtle created to create explorations has a smoked green dial with darker edges. The dial otherwise retains its characteristic design with a sandwich construction, a built -in markings and oversized Arabic digits at 12, 3, 6 and 9 a.m. The hands are equally fat, and each element is generously filled with old radium super luminova, which is well combined with the green color.
The Eska Amphibian 250 Green Turtle is powered by a reliable automatic Sellita SW200 and is a limited edition of 136 parts (a reference to the depth rating, since 136 threads of the water resistance of 250 m correspond). Immediately available on the brand's website, it costs at a price 825 EUR (excl. VAT). You can find more information on Eska-Watches.fr.
