Independent watchmaking always dealt with mechanics, but also a dialogue between visionaries and collectors who believe in them. For her 10th anniversary, the limited edition has decided to celebrate with a creation that embodies the spirit of modern manual hearing. The result is the reality of the time, a collaboration between Pietro Tomajer, Amr Sindi (The Horophile) and none other than Vianney Halter, one of the most unique voices in the watch to get the classic watch back in a new, more modern clothing.
For collectors, Halter's name causes two mighty design strands. The riveted, beefy cases of classics and antiqua (created together with Jeffrey Barnes) defined steampunk watchmakers before the term had even entered the lexicon. Later, with the Metropolis series, Vianney Halter reduced the surplus and explored Art Deco proportions and lines. The reality of time combines these two legacies in a single case and merge the structural clarity of the metropolis with the industrial details of the classics. The 39 -mm housing, mat, was first ended in Halter's oeuvre, is accentuated by polished rosé gold rivets on the bezel and crown, an allusion to its earliest creations. At 8.2 mm thick (11.85 mm with crystal), it would have an elegant wear on the wrist, with 30 m water resistance, to ensure that it is more than a display item.
The accessed dial deals with contrasts. Anthracit-Titan offers a dark base with a microblasted middle and brushed periphery. A chapter ring runs around him, on which powdery painted digits shine gently, and their warmth echoed from pink gold -treated hands that are shaped like vintage fountain pen -nibs. It is unmistakably semi -tier: original, layered and tactile, but reserved enough to be worn every day.
The automatic caliber VH122 provides technical depth and philosophical weight. The 30-year movement beats at 21,600 vibrations/hour and stores 56 hours of electricity, which were wrapped by Halter “Mysterious” (Sapphire) Wicking mass. On this rotor, a quote from the philosopher Gaston Bachelard reminds us of the conceptual core of the clock: “Le Temps n'a qu'une Réalité, Celle de l'e pt.” (“Time has only one reality that of the moment.”). It is a line that uses the lifelong exploration of the time of keeper as an instrument and an idea.
Equipped with a dark gray veal leather and a Titan -Pinfelle, the reality of the time appears as a complete, balanced object: technically, poetic and undeniably rare. For collectors, it is a synthesis of Halter's design university, which are filtered by the curatorial view of Tomajer and Sindi and produced in an issue of 20 pieces.
The price is CHF 79,000 (before taxes), which can pull up the eyebrows. After all, this is not a completely new creation, but a revision of an established model that is characterized by various finishing and decorative details. And it's still just a time. Perhaps this is the point: the reality of the time questions appreciate it as it embodies it and reminds us that time itself is the real luxury in life and in life, while money remains only its imperfect measure.
