OCHS and Junior, the independent brand, which in 2006 the inventive genius of Dr. Ludwig Oechslin was founded, has built up her call on watches that present complex astronomical or calendar displays in radically simple, functional designs. Models such as perpetual calendar, annual calendar and moon phase are already cult favorites among collectors that appreciate mechanical intelligence paired with reserved aesthetics.
For the holiday season 2025 (it's already so close), the brand brings one of the most poetic creations, the day/night, in a new 40 -mm Christmas edition. The day/night, which was designed as a unique project in 2018 in 2018, has since become a signature of the studio in La Chaux-de-Fonds, which not only captured in hours and minutes, but in the rhythm of light and darkness and more, as we explained when covering the first day/night in 2024.
The Holiday Edition 2025 is available in a titanium housing in class 5 with a weight of 61 g, including straps and buckles, with a rhodium dial from Super-Luminova coated by blue markings and hands. The upper half of the dial represents the time of day in brass, while the lower half shows the night in Ochs and Junior's unmistakable deep blue patina, which is selected by hand with brass stars. A hammered 24 -Karg golden sun and a platinum moon mark their positions in the sky, while the display develops during the day.
Despite its clean appearance, the watch presents a whole series of astronomical information: it shows sunrise and sunset times, the length of day and night for a selected place in a hemisphere, solar day, the position of the sun and the moon, the moon phase as well as the date, the hour and the minute. All of this is powered by the Ulysse Nardin UN-320 Automatic Caliber Base with a complication module from Oechslin.
In practice, the day/night is designed so that it is as intuitive as it is poetic. Wrapping the movement requires about 50 curves for a full 48-hour reserve, according to which the crown enables a simple adjustment of the moon phase, solar day, date and local time. The owners only have to avoid adjusting the date between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., a standard pre -view measure for mechanical calendars. For those who are new on the clock, OCHS and Junior offers personal instructions by phone, with the entire process only taking a few minutes. Please note that this is not a customizable edition.
