Introducing the new Breguet Reine de Naples 9935 and 8925 for the brand's 250th anniversary

To mark its grand 250th anniversary, Breguet is turning its attention to the Reine de Naples, a women's collection with a royal backstory and a striking oval case. The new moon phase reference 9935 and the pure time watch 8925 are worthy of a queen and full of new features, a new gold bracelet and a generous sprinkling of diamonds.

As the leading watchmaker of his time, Abraham-Louis Breguet enjoyed the customs of French royalty and aristocracy, including Caroline Murat (Queen of Naples), sister of Napoleon Bonaparte. Breguet's 1812 “elongated repeater watch,” considered one of the first examples of a wristwatch and commissioned by the Queen of Naples, featured a delicate bracelet. Inspired by a description of the watch, Breguet launched the Reine de Naples collection in 2002 with a striking egg-shaped case.

One of the highlights of the anniversary references is the new Breguet gold bracelet. The outer links consist of three polished links and reflect the oval shape of the case, while the middle link is round like the distinctive lug at 6 o'clock and sparkles with 52 snow-set diamonds. The supple and flowing gold bracelet features a three-blade folding clasp and can be adjusted to the millimeter.

Queen of Naples 9935

The dreamy moon phase reference comes in a 28.5mm wide and 36.5mm long Breguet gold case. The crown at 4 o'clock sparkles in the light of 109 brilliant-cut diamonds set in the bezel and flange and is set with a large briolette-cut diamond or a blue sapphire. The novelty is that the power reserve indicator on the dial has been removed, allowing a larger display of the lunar cycles in a crescent-shaped window at midday.

Another first in the collection, the signature Breguet Arabic numerals at 12, 3 and 9 o'clock are accompanied by six pear-shaped diamonds as well as a pear-cut diamond or a blue sapphire at noon. True to Breguet's design language, the small seconds counter is decorated with a hand-guilloched Quai de l'Horloge pattern, the casebands are fluted and the gold hands have a hollow tip.

First introduced with four references, the blue model's two-tier dial features an upper layer of blue aventurine glass and an underlying strip of iridescent Tahitian mother-of-pearl, creating an incredible play of light. The white mother-of-pearl model and the spectacular High Jewelry model set with 5.2 carats of diamonds on the case, bracelet and dial are combined with the new gold bracelet.

On the back you can see the caliber 537L2 with its gold-plated platinum rotor decorated with a hand-guilloched Petit Trianon motif. The movement is equipped with a flat silicon hairspring and beats at a frequency of 3.5 Hz. It offers a power reserve of 45 hours.

Queen of Naples 8925

With a diameter of just 33 mm, a length of 25 mm and a thickness of 8.5 mm, the proportions of the timeless Reine de Naples are wonderfully feminine. The three references 8925 display only the hours and minutes on a decentralized dial and are all equipped with the beautiful new Breguet gold bracelet. Diamonds play the main role and the case and dial shine in the light of 207 diamonds.

Available with an 18-carat Breguet gold dial, a white mother-of-pearl dial or a black lacquered gold dial, the three references preserve the brand's design heritage with a hand-guilloched Quai de l'Horloge pattern on the off-center dial, Breguet gold Arabic numerals and hands, and a fluted case band. Powered by the caliber 586/1 with a power reserve of 38 hours, the rotor is decorated with a hand-guilloche Petit Trianon motif.
