Young French brand Serica has built a loyal following by incorporating vintage elements into sleek, modern tool watches and paying attention to the details that many brands often ignore. After operational divers and GMTs put the Paris-based manufacturer on the map, the Serica Parade Ref. 1174 shifted the conversation to the dress watch category – without sacrificing practicality. The Stadium case (a soft rectangle with straight sides and rounded ends) combined with a pure time display and a water resistance of 100 m resulted in a dress watch suitable for everyday use. The line now expands to include two enduring references with linen dials, a classic cross-weave structure familiar to collectors of mid-century Datejusts and select Omega models. Both maintain the quiet elegance of the parade while the texture adds character.
The case maintains the same proportions and lug-free construction, measuring 35mm wide, 41mm long and 8.2mm thick. The case is compact, with a wide dial opening and a gentle curve that adapts to the wrist. The geometry doesn't just look good. Serica's sandwich construction uses long, continuous screws running in the bezel to compress the seals, achieving 100m water resistance in a slim automatic watch. The flanks are vertically brushed, the bezel is lightly polished and the transitions are sharp. For a city-first watch that still stands up to real life, a non-screwed crown is acceptable.
On these new dials, the linen is a deep, crisply milled relief that plays with the light and adds welcome topography to the minimalist layout. The colors are subtle: Slate Blue, a cool gray-blue that changes depending on the ambient light, and Tobacco Green, a warm olive brown with subtle green undertones. Twelve polished, tiny, hand-applied teardrop hour markers capture reflections, the domed sword hands are highly polished, and the hand is intentionally secondless: just hours and minutes to slow the clock and keep the composition calm.
The watch is powered by the Soprod M100, a thin automatic movement with an operating frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of 42 hours. The Côtes de Genève finishing is hidden behind a solid back to maintain the rigidity and water resistance of the case.
The new Parade Linen is worn on an alligator-embossed calfskin strap that tapers from 18mm to 14mm and is secured by the pin buckle, whose contour is reminiscent of the stadium bezel. Genuine alligator leather options are available and the flat case sides make bracelet combinations unusually versatile. Suede, shell cordovan or a narrow mesh work without compromising the shape.
These new Serica Parade Ref. No. 1174 with linen dials are available at the price 1,490 euros including taxes.
