First look – the new Atelier Nossedh brand and its first vintage chronograph, the AN.01 series

Atelier Nossedh (pastime in the Northern Sami language) is a new micro-brand created by a Swedish designer, Alexander Gimell, who wanted to build the watch he couldn't find: small, classically proportioned, inspired by some magnificent vintage chronographs and made with the kind of restraint that deserves time on the wrist. The debut piece, the Atelier Nossedh AN.01, is a Swiss-made bi-compax chronograph that feels like a direct continuation of mid-century design, refined and modernized with real intention. There's unmistakably vintage Patek about it, particularly the 1463's shades, although the AN.01 avoids imitations. It is a watch that focuses on touch and balance, a tactile object that feels right from the first wind.

The Atelier Nossedh AN.01 is refreshingly compact. It measures 37mm in diameter, 44mm lug to lug and is 10.5mm thick without the crystal (12.5mm including the double domed sapphire); This is one of the thinnest versions of a hand-wound Sellita SW510 chronograph you can find. The height is beautifully controlled by subtle concave profiles on both the bezel and caseback, a small design step that makes a big ergonomic difference.

The finish alternates between linear brushing on the flanks and lugs and polished transitions along the edges, resulting in a clean, directional and unfussy look. It sits naturally on the wrist; The classic pushers have a clear, mechanical click and the 6 mm crown offers good grip. Rated for 50m water resistance, the case feels practical rather than delicate, and is sturdy enough to wear every day.

The classic echoes of a mid-century chronograph are most clearly expressed on the dial with the signature “Atelier Nossedh Chronométrie”. The AN.01 follows a timeless bi-compax layout: a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, a small seconds counter at 9 o'clock, both with a snail pattern, a tachymeter scale and minutes display on the edge, and minimal text to keep things open and balanced. Six color options provide a distinctive character: sunrays in black, blue or brown as well as electroplated silver white, salmon and gold.

All have the same understated design language: applied Arabic or Roman numerals (at 6 and 12) and dot indices, beveled leaf-style hands and crisp printing that shows the care of a small-batch assembly. The double-domed sapphire crystal creates just enough distortion at the edge to give the subdials a gentle curvature at certain angles – a deliberate nod to the charm of vintage acrylic. The salmon and gold versions in particular capture the light with warmth and provide a quiet richness that is rarely found in watches of this size and price segment.

The Sellita SW510 M Elaboré quality movement, hidden by the solid steel case back, works at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 63 hours. It is a hand-wound caliber, and that alone changes the experience: every wind creates a noticeable connection to the mechanics. The pusher feel is secure and consistent, and the chronograph functions reset sharply. The movement is not haute horlogerie or a chronometer, but that's not the point; It is solid, reliable and easy to maintain. Its purpose is to keep the price down and the wearing experience authentic.

Each AN.01 comes with a French Epsom leather strap that is color-matched to the dial. The grain is fine, the taper is elegant and the 19mm lug width ensures versatility when you want to swap them out. The pin buckle is made of polished steel, slim and discreet.
