First Look – The new Kallinich Claeys Einser Zentralsecond Voyager Edition

Founded by former A. Lange & Söhne watchmakers Johannes Kallinich and Thibault Claeys, the independent watchmaking atelier Kallinich Claeys has quickly become one of the most interesting names in contemporary Glashütte watchmaking. Their debut watch, the One Central Seconds, introduced a clean design approach and a carefully constructed in-house movement with central seconds and a linear power reserve indicator through the caseband. The new One Central Seconds Voyager Edition builds on this platform: same architecture and intricate workmanship, now in a white gold case with a dial that looks outward to the stars and back to Saxony's astronomical heritage.

For the first time, the Kallinich Claeys One Central Second appears in a precious metal; The earlier editions were made of steel. The Voyager is housed in a solid 18k white gold case measuring 41mm in diameter and 11mm high, constructed from a single block with no soldered lugs. The stepped tabs merge into recessed flanks, preserving the clear, architectural profile of the original. On the right side, the brand's characteristic element remains: a sapphire window integrated into the case band, which frames the linear power reserve in profile. The crystal has a metallized edge and is invisibly bonded, preserving the geometry of the middle case while giving the movement a functional “cut-out” view. Sapphire crystals on the front and back protect the dial and reveal the caliber; The watch is waterproof up to 30 m.

The Voyager dial is an evolution of the house style, developed in collaboration with Lee Yuen-Rapati (@onehourwatch). A circular grained outer ring carries newly introduced applied indices, each shaped to reflect the three-dimensional shape of the sculpted central hands, with straight grained surfaces and polished bevels to capture the light.

The cosmic theme emerges in the center. A hand-engraved motif inspired by Dresden's rich astronomical history creates a starfield effect with polished, engraved lines against a frosted background, creating an ever-changing play of reflections as the watch moves. The familiar eccentric top circle with the screwed logo plaque underlines the continuity with the first one, while the Voyager engraving propels the new watch into its own orbit.

The Kallinich Claeys Einser central seconds Voyager is powered by the hand-wound caliber KC001.1, designed and developed in-house, which beats at a quiet 18,000 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of 45 hours. The differential that drives the linear power reserve is visible through the back of the display and through the side window, connecting the case architecture directly to the mechanics.

The movement consists of 208 components and 30 stones, here executed as transparent sapphires, and is made of German silver with the same intricate workmanship that characterized the original series, with heat-blued screws, black polished steel components, hand engraving and multiple graining techniques, wheels with individually beveled teeth and hand-ground inner angles.

The Voyager one center seconds is worn on a dark brown ostrich leather strap, which closes with a newly designed white gold clasp. Production is limited to 20 pieces, price applies 49,800 euros (excl. taxes). For more information, visit www.kallinichclaeys.com.
