Buying Guide – The best of Dubai Watch Week 2025 on a (sort of) budget, with 6 new watches under 7,000

With Dubai in the spotlight for the last week or two, we were not disappointed by the newly unveiled watches from the 90 or so brands that were part of Dubai Watch Week 2025. Last week we put together a list of what we thought were the very best of the show, from the supremely complex but oh-so-gorgeous Chopard LUC Grand Strike to the unique and super-cool collaboration between Urwerk and Ulysse Nardin. However, every single one except one had a high price. Understandably, this level of watchmaking is not for everyone, so this week we're going back to a more sensible level, with each watch being much more affordable and therefore accessible to the everyday enthusiast and collector!

Oris ProPilot date

After the recent revamp of the Aquis Date line, Oris has now refreshed another of its icons: the ProPilot collection. While the focus may be on the new dial design, the updates go beyond that too. The case is a little tighter, sharper and processed in more detail. The crown has been reprofiled, the same applies to the bezel. The dial has a new design, texture and colors. It continues to rely on Oris' caliber 733, which is based on the Sellita SW200, and Oris offers the new ProPilot Date with a steel bracelet or a suede strap, both with a LIFT folding clasp. The collection retails 1,950 euros on leather or 2,150 euros on the bracelet.

Atelier Wen X Revolution Ancestra Jao

Since its debut in 2018, Atelier Wen has been all about combining Chinese culture and craftsmanship with mechanical watchmaking. Launched earlier this year, Ancestra is now getting an East meets West makeover in collaboration with Revolution. The dial is as detailed as ever, but now finished with a hand-applied fabric-like texture and brown Grand Feu enamel, with Arabic numerals mixed with the baguette-cut diamond markers. The movement remains unchanged and comes from Pequignet, but has been heavily adapted for Atelier Wen. Worn on a cream leather strap with a steel pin buckle, it is made to order and retails 5,100 euros.

While the original 39mm black dial Ranger is still part of the collection, it is now joined by a 36mm edition as well as a new Dune White dial in both sizes. It gives the watch a whole new feel, which is great! The color is best described as a very soft beige, spiced up by blackened hour markers and hands.
