Still a very young brand (founded in 2018), Norqain has quickly become an established brand specializing in adventure watches and everything related to mountaineering activities. With the Independence, Freedom, Wild One and Adventure collections, Norqain is aiming higher, offering robust watches that often boast serious mechanical features. One of the brand's earliest models and its all-terrain offering, the Norqain Adventure, returns for 2026 with a new 40mm case and a number of updates to give it broader appeal. And it is intended to replace the current 42mm models.
Aside from the Neverest line, which is tied to the brand's non-profit partnership with the Nepali Butterfly Help Project, the collection for now only includes the large Adventure Sports 42mm and the compact Adventure 37mm… and nothing in between. And this is where the new Norqain Adventure 40mm hits the spot with Goldilocks diameter and proportions. In fact, the case measures 40mm, the all-round size for a sporty, exploration-oriented model. But the brand's new versions aren't just about size.
As you can see, the classic features of the collection – 200m water resistance, screw-down crown, side plaque on the left, brushed finishes with polished accents – are all retained, but there are some new features to note. The domed sapphire crystal is framed by a unidirectional rotating bezel with classic diamond-like knurling, but which now houses an aluminum insert (instead of ceramic) with a 60-minute scale and triangles at the cardinal direction markers. The case has also changed, with crown protection and a more pronounced, polished facet on the side. The crown also features a colored ring that matches the dial. The case is 40mm in diameter, 12.5mm thick and 48.30mm long – not particularly compact, but still smaller and probably more comfortable than the 42mm version. The updates are partially consistent with what we saw with the Adventure Neverest 40mm.
Things also change with the dial. While it looks familiar at first glance, several changes add personality to the watch, such as the new embossed mountain pattern (basketweave pattern on older models), available in a gray or dark green color with matching aluminum inserts. There is also a luminous ring under the sapphire crystal that matches the Super-LumiNova inserts (in light blue or light gray) on the hands and markers. These are faceted and rhodium plated and have been redesigned. The hands are partially openworked and larger, and the markers are rectangles rather than trapezoids with an asymmetrical element at 12 o'clock. Finally, the date was moved to the 6 o'clock position in a circular window.
As for the movement, the mechanical basis of the Norqain caliber N08 remains the same – a Sellita SW200, an alternative to the ETA 2824 – but is now certified by the COSC as a chronometer. The movement runs at a classic 4 Hz frequency and has a power reserve of 41 hours. It is visible under a sapphire crystal caseback and is equipped with a custom-made Norqain rotor.
Finally, the Norqain Adventure 40mm introduces a new design for the rubber strap, which features the same mountain-inspired pattern as the dial. Color-coordinated with the dial and bezel, the bracelet can be ordered with a pin buckle or folding clasp. A stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp is also available.
The Norqain Adventure 40 mm is part of the permanent collection and is available to order now. It replaces the Adventure Sport 42mm. Whether it's design or mechanical, the introduction of a chronometer certification feels like a good update, but it comes at a price.
