Introducing: The new brand OraOrea debuts with the Coriolis Pointer Date

OraOrea is a new independent brand founded by Zach Weiss, best known as the co-founder of Worn & Wound and Windup Watch Fair. After years of analyzing, curating and discussing watches, Weiss is now moving into product development with a first model that reflects a collector's eye for proportions and details. The OraOrea Coriolis Pointer Date is designed as an everyday watch with a strong identity that reflects a personal, design-led vision.

The OraOrea Coriolis Pointer Date stainless steel case has a diameter of 38.5mm and a thickness of 12.1mm (including glass, 9.3mm without). The shape is defined by wide, curved lugs and a relatively compact 45mm lug-to-lug. The construction is more complex than it seems at first glance, with separate components allowing for different finishes on all surfaces. Brushed surfaces contrast with polished bevels, the width of which changes subtly along the tabs. A heavily curved sapphire crystal with AR and anti-fingerprint coating provides additional optical height and softens the overall profile. The flat, 6mm, fluted push-pull crown is decorated with the colorful brand logo. Water resistance is 100 m.

The dial, available in Skyline Silver, Venetus Teal and Rhodium Black, makes the watch even more interesting. The Coriolis' layered display consists of concentric rings, with a laser-cut, hand-polished single piece used for the hour and minute/second indication. The outer ring features even Roman numerals to indicate the hours, and an integrated, thin, railroad-style minute/second track separates the inner ring of odd Roman numerals. Each hour is additionally marked with a small gold hemisphere positioned on either side of the minute ring.

At the very center, raised above the circular brushed surface, a printed date index with self-designed numerals provides symmetrical placement. This circular structure serves as a visual anchor, guiding the eye across the dial to discover the fine details. The hands are sharply defined and three-dimensional, with slight color variations depending on the dial variant.

The OraOrea Coriolis Pointer Date is powered by the Sellita SW386-1, a relatively new automatic caliber derived from the slim SW300 and adapted for a central pointer date. It has a power count of 28,800, has a power reserve of 56 hours and is presented here in a high quality version (D4) with improved finishing and a bespoke rotor visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.

The OraOrea Coriolis Pointer Date is worn on a leather strap that is equipped with a pin buckle and quick-release spring bars for greater comfort. The price is $3,950Delivery is scheduled for the end of 2026. OraOrea mentions that the images provided are pre-production samples. For more information, visit oraorea.com.
