In the fourth edition, Enan has been removed in the author's tent section, additional descriptions for Vango Helium UL2 and vitamin D3 have been revised. The GPS-related description has been reviewed and the explanation has been simplified. And I was convinced that Garmin Messenger Plus will become the standard for future satellite communications, so I explained it in an independent heading. Additionally, the contents of the emergency kit have been revised.
The 4.1 edition adds the latest findings on muscle spasms. (2025.1.25)
The 4.2nd edition organizes the description of the backpack and adds the theory of the front pack. (2025.3.25)
In the 4th and 3rd edition, I changed my main backpack to a guide post 65 with front pockets attached, and introduced how to use the inReach device to prevent it from disappearing.

Since 2009, I have been visiting the United States every summer, taking a look at the period when I was unable to travel due to the coronavirus, and have been hiking (or so-called trekking). It happened to be on the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) mailing list, which often led to discussions with American hikers.
Mountaineers and hikers can understand what they can do when they gain experience in the outdoors. That experience turns into a belief. However, even if your beliefs are wrong, you will not have the opportunity to receive correct feedback. Therefore, false beliefs are never corrected, and the more experience you gain, the more you become a slave to them.
For example, let's say that an experienced person says that drinking plenty of water to prevent altitude sickness. Those who faithfully adhere to this and who have not suffered from altitude sickness are convinced that the prevention method is correct. And spread that knowledge to others. Some people get altitude sickness even if they drink a lot of water. At that time, it can be explained that the person did not drink enough water. The precaution of drinking plenty of water changes from belief to absolute truth and is not denied.
The same can be seen in a variety of areas of mountaineering and hiking. There are various beliefs, such as boots that are prone to beans and dangerous, shoes that are not leans and safe, backpacks are dangerous if they are heavy, and when they are bitten by a poisonous snake, they are sucked out venom with poison remover.
Mountain climbing and hiking are areas where a variety of fields overlap, including medicine, kinesiology, clothing studies, and nutrition, and there are mountains of research papers that examine the beliefs of hikers. Unfortunately, all of the above beliefs have been proven wrong. It's just that mountaineers and hikers don't know about it. Ignorance is not only unhappy, but sometimes it can be life and death.
I have been involved in empirical research (psychology) for a long time, experiencing how humans are slaves to experience. The only way to get out of this state is to get the help of a scientist. Therefore, I collected and reviewed research papers from all fields related to hiking before writing this book.
Initially, it was planned to be published by a publisher. So, before the proof was released, he voluntarily published an English version (paperback and Kindle) and even released a revised version. However, I heard that publication would be difficult until a year or two have passed, so I switched to self-publishing from Amazon.
I want to provide this book as cheaply as possible. I believe that scientific knowledge should be shared with as many people as possible. Updates are easy on Amazon. It's been about 10 months since the first draft, so I chose the second edition in line with the English version.
